Alivieska is a town which is located 7.5 kilometres southeast from lake Peräjärvi. Alivieska is part of the fictional Alivieska municipality (along with Peräjärvi and possibly Lukka and Raittimaa) and probably the most populous urban area of Alivieska. It is the administrative centre of the municipality, as the municipal hall is located there, mentioned in the radio. Alivieska can be seen in the map of teletext local weather forecast.
