EDM 500LX rear view

Rear quarter view.

The EDM 500LX is a vehicle that appears at the Dance Pavilion on Saturdays at 6:00 PM and despawns (if the player is far away enough from it) on Sundays at 10:00 AM.

The car is based on the BMW 5 Series E34 but features conventional rectangular light clusters and a wide grille split. Judging by the engine, the wheels, and the mirror style, it specifically seems to be based on a 1992–1996 BMW 525i (though the frontal airbags from that car are missing). The rear taillights are more similar to the 1985-1987 BMW E30 than the E34. The headlights and framework seem to be based on the Peugeot 604. The long hood, forward leaning grille, angled grille(s) and single unit rectangular headlights give the car a similar look to many Mitsubishi cars of the time, one example being the Mitsubishi Galant VR-4.

This car has the same function as the Fittan, which is to give the player a ride home. The car can be stopped by pressing the hitchhike button (O by default). Kuski, the driver, will then allow the player to climb into the back seat of the car using the rear doors. If the car is "moving" and the player is not riding it, it will ignore/go past Kesselinperantie, and after roaming around the map for quite a while, it will drive to the Sportsfield and do 2 laps around it.

The EDM has a CD player and stereo system, the same ones that can be bought by the player. The car plays the same music as the Ricochet, but plays the music in the EDM is more quiet and less bass-y than the Ricochet. The passenger of the car will play and change tracks. The songs will loop until the passenger changes them. If he happens to be dead, the current track will play until it ends, and no songs will play after that. The player cannot interact with the stereo.

Despite mechanically being a stock car, due to being a rear-wheel drive car, it is very capable to drift, and may spin out into a ditch, sometimes leading to Kuski's and his friend's death. If the player happens to be riding at that time, he will also die. The newspaper headline will read "reckless driving caused two deaths".

Achievements[]

The "Too much power, too little skill" achievement can be achieved when the player is killed in a crash while riding as a passenger in the car.

Trivia[]

  • EDM is a play on BMW; EDM meaning, "Electronic Dance Music" or (E)uro(D)ance (M)ix is a reference to the song style played in the car.
  • When the car was first added into the game, the tachometer had a very low redline - only at 6000 RPM, even though the engine revved much higher. This was later fixed in an update, which made the tachometer show up to 8000 RPM.
  • After a certain update, especially the update in which the techno tracks have changed, the "beep" sound of the stereo that *plays* when the passenger interacts with it is missing.
  • The slowest the car can go on the highway is 60 km/h and the fastest is 160-170 (km/h).
  • Prior to the 01.04.2021 update, the driver was always speeding without slowing down. However, there is now a bug, when the EDM 500LX may have a chance to speed up rapidly in high RPMs when the passenger changes the techno tracks.
  • For some reason, during the times when the car was still new, in the Experimental Branch, the EDM 500LX used to be somehow black (this maybe just a misconception due to (custom) graphics settings; the car may look black because "Reflections" are off and that the "Graphics Quality" is set to the poorest and lowest quality), and the sunroof is seen mostly open.
  • The driver of the car was also supposed to wear a Black AMIS Cap that is similar to Jani's Kurjala Beer Cap.
  • The car but most especially the passenger is based on an old "Finnish Meme," that can be found on Youtube "Teiniuhoamista(etvoikatsoavakavallanaamalla)" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VrjK-92Qa5E
  • Prior to the 29.05.2020 update, the car played Toniylijani_demo2, Max Cancer - 2 Bad and Dr. Vector - Karrkulture2.
  • As of the 29.05.2020 update, the music tracks played inside of the car are now Kesa_utare, Keski_utare, Kiuas, Kiuas2, Klapi, Klapi3, Kuilu2, Nakutus_utare, Nessu_utare, Pyha_utare, and Transsi_utare.
