The overlay for decreased visibility
The helmet (
: kypärä) is an item that can be worn on the player's head to prevent injury or death.
Immediately available on the desk of the player character's bedroom at home upon starting a new game, the helmet mitigates the chance of death from vehicle crashes or falls on the Jonnez ES; it also eliminates the possibility of blinding bee strikes while riding the Jonnez or any vehicle without a windshield at higher speeds. The helmet is a legal requirement while riding the Jonnez and the player can be fined at police checkpoints for not wearing the helmet. Wearing the helmet is also a necessity for entry into the Rally Sprint Race, but players can remove it after registration if they do not wish to race with it. Wearing the helmet can also protect the player from hot coolant spraying out of the radiator after the engine has been running.
Eating, drinking, smoking or answering the phone is not possible while wearing the helmet. Visibility while wearing the helmet is also reduced to the center of the screen with the sides of the visor misted, resulting limited player awareness. The helmet also muffles sound.
The helmet is equipped with F and removed by looking downwards and pressing F. When the player saves while wearing the helmet, the helmet will teleport to the ground where the player stands. If the helmet is worn upon death, the helmet will respawn at the landfill site. The color of the helmet can be customized using spray paint.
