This article is about the item. For other uses, see Radio (disambiguation).

The radio (: Mankka) is an item which can be found in the player's room at home that can be used to tune into radio stations. It has two buttons and a dial, the buttons can be used by pressing F, and the dial can be operated with the scroll wheel; the left-most button turns the radio on/off, the middle button changes the channel, and the dial on the right-hand side of the radio changes the volume.

The radio originally required no power to operate until the 22.10.2021 update, when a series of 10 R20 batteries are then required to operate the radio as it starts off lacking any batteries. The batteries are to be inserted by way of battery slots at the back, which cover is opened by pressing F, and are fitted into the slot as a battery is being held by pressing LMB when a check mark icon  appears. Inserted batteries can be removed by pressing F on any of them, but they will be labelled as "disposed batteries" and can no longer be reused, even if they are fresh or unused; care must thus be taken when interacting with the batteries and battery covers to minimize wastage. The batteries are expected to require replacement as their power will drain with use over time.

A second radio can be found inside the jail cell, which is identical to the one found at home, except that it works despite not having batteries in it.

Trivia[]

  • The radio is a recreation of a Lasonic TRC-975 boombox, a now rare and expensive boombox which can fetch a lot of money especially in working condition
    • As evidenced by its real-life inspiration, the controls of the game's radio are revealed to be inaccurate to its real-life inspiration. The large dial used for volume control is in fact used for tuning on the real radio; the real volume control is the right most smaller dial beneath the tuning dial. The buttons used to change stations correlates with those used to switch between FM, AM and shortwave ranges, while the power button's placement is accurate.
  • The radio originally had a LASONIC TRC-975 label in front, which was relabeled as 5H1T 2000A in the 20.08.2019 update. "5H1T" is Leetspeak for "shit". The texture reverted to its original design following the 22.10.2021 update.
