Run the Gauntlet is a reaction-based game that can be played on the Mikropekka computer at home. It can be downloaded from the Files section of Con-Line BBS; the file size is 470 kilobytes, which means that downloading the game at the highest possible baud rate will take about 13 minutes and 3 seconds. The game can be accessed with the gauntlet command and, as with most other games, terminated by pressing Q. The goal of the game is to advance as far as possible through the stages.

Gameplay

The objective of the game is to move to the right-hand side of the screen through three different types of reaction levels: "Defend your cap", "Dodge snowballs", and "Find empty toilet".

In "Defend your cap" the goal is to keep the character's hat from being taken by pressing Space when one of the bullies is about to take it while walking past them. Pressing the space bar too early or too late will end the game.

In "Dodge snowballs" the goal is to avoid oncoming snowballs by ducking or jumping over them. Getting hit by a snowball will end the game.

In "Find empty toilet" the goal is to find an empty lavatory by quickly pressing Space in front of any of the doors, and avoid holding a door open for too long if it is occupied. Keeping a door held open for too long will end the game.

• Surviving 20 days in the Run the Gauntlet game will unlock the "Gauntlet survivor" achievement.
