The starter (
: Starttimoottori) is a car part which can be found inside the garage at home. It is attached to the engine plate with 2x7mm bolts. Wiring the starter to the positive terminal of the battery makes a new 5mm nut appear which must also be secured. To wire the starter to the negative terminal, 7mm bolt farthest from the engine must be untightened first. The starter's speed is affected by battery voltage. If the battery has been depleted significantly of charge, the starter will crank very slowly.
The starter wears down with use, which will affect the Satsuma's ability to ignite. When the starter is worn, it will make a low-pitched grinding noise when attempting to start, and as it gets more worn the grinding will become more common.
If the starter is damaged or broken, it may be replaced at the Fleetari Repair Shop. If removed from the Satsuma while it is running, the car will continue to run, but if the engine stops, it can't be started again until the starter is reinstalled. Note that it is important to disconnect the battery when installing or uninstalling the starter as it can cause electric shock.
The starter makes a grinding sound a moment after starting (tshhhh). This is due to the fact that the starter gear has not had time to hide and the speeding flywheel rotates the gear causing a grinding noise. It doesn't cause any damage so far, but it can be annoying (many people think it is dangerous and try to diagnose the engine).
