The steering rods (Fin: Ohjausvarret) are car parts which can be found inside the garage at home. They are attached to the stock or rally struts with 1x12mm bolt each. The steering rods can be adjusted with a 14mm wrench.

Steering adjustment[]

The steering (toe-angle) adjustment is fairly straightforward, but slightly time-consuming:

  • Take the 14mm spanner from the spanner set (a ratchet cannot be used)
  • Scroll up or down until the steering rod and wheel stop moving
  • Scroll exactly 60 times in the opposite direction
You can also "eye-ball" it. With the car assembled, close the doors, move to the front left tire, crouch and look toward the back of the car on the driver side. Adjust your position so that the door's edge presents the smallest possible profile -- you should just barely see the outside of the door. From this angle, you can see the tire turned left or right. Using the 14mm wrench on the adjusting bolt, adjust the tire so that the rim presents the smallest possible profile. Repeat for the right side. Once it looks straight, get in the car and drive a bit. If it pulls to one side, adjust accordingly -- you may need to adjust both sides a few times to get it dialed in.
Tip: Set the field of view as low as possible to easily see when the bolt turns without having to lean/zoom in.
